This week I am in Medellin, Colombia for the Pan Am Championships, and of 9 people I am the only female! Which reminded me, again, of how we need to get more girls riding bikes in Canada!
So today I want to highlight some of the programs starting up this year in Calgary at the Glenmore Velodrome.
First up, May 7th, is a learn to ride clinic and beginner sprint tournament. I’ll be running it so come out to try the track! 9am start, weather pending.
Monday nights, starting June 13th, there will be a woman’s training group from 6-8pm.
Tuesday nights, starting May 17th there will be a youth development group from 5-7pm.
Thursday nights is the weekly racing series
Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays have open training for all cbtl members.
I am also writing up a general training plan for those who don’t have a personal coach and want to come out to the track but are not sure what to do. Every Tuesday night starting May 10th there will be a detailed workout you can follow to help prepare for the local races.
All of the details and more can be found at cbtl.ca. Please don’t be afraid to come out and try the track! It’s wicked fun, it’s not nearly as scary as it may seem, and your friends will think you’re super cool!
Note: Don’t come out if it’s snowing or raining, the track must be dry in order to ride it!
